The collections of the Archaeological Museum of Ioannina are displayed in a total surface of 1.200 square meters. Exhibits cover a wide time span from the first appearance of humans in Epirus during the Lower Paleolithic to late antiquity in late Roman times.

The AMI is in the center of Ioannina city, accessible via the Litharitsia Park and its pedestrian -tarmac and/or stone slab- wide trails. Access for PWDs to the building itself is made via the eastern entrance and is facilitated by a ramp (c. 20m length). The door has an adequate opening to accommodate people with mobility difficulties. Upon arrival at the main (westside) outer entrance at the level of the park, please contact 0030-2651001089 in order to enter the museum. The exhibition halls do not require the use of a lift . The museum can provide, upon request, a wheelchair to facilitate visiting / availability: 1 item. Organised car-parking installations (with fees) are situated relatively close by (e.g. 300m straight distance). Accessible WC for PWDs is available inside the Museum.

  • 7 TV screens with thematic video narratives about the ancient history, the archaeology and the relevant research in the region of Epirus are included in the exhibition (narration in Greek and 6 with English subtitles). Includes 50 exhibits with relevant information.
  • All exhibition panel texts and labels are provided in Greek and English. Concise exhibition leaflets are available in Greek, English, Italian, French, German, Polish.
  • ADULTS PWDs: Special occasion educational program for local people on the spectrum of dementia (firstly offered 2022).
  • KIDS & ADOLESCENTS: On request educational program for local special PWDs School (firstly offered 2019).
