It is one of the oldest and most important museums in Greece. The Museum houses artefacts from all periods of Cretan prehistory and history, including unique Minoan collection. It is rightly considered as the Museum of Minoan Culture par excellence.

- Tactile guided tours for visually impaired people on request, based on exact replicas of Museum exhibits.
- Guided tour for people with mental disabilities, pre-scheduled in collaboration with local institutions.
Accessible and inclusive programes
The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is implementing an EU-funded project aiming to upgrade digital information facilities for physical and remote visitors. The project includes the setting up of a new up to date web portal and applications for PWD. The outcomes of the project will be available to the public at the end of 2022.Â
