about

The Jorgji Qirjako Museum offers a rich journey through the Kolonjë region’s past, showcasing artifacts and exhibits from the Neolithic era to the communist period. Located in the heart of Ersekë, the museum highlights the area’s cultural, political, and social evolution through carefully curated displays.

Accessible and inclusive programs

Currently, due to funding constraints, the Jorgji Qirjako Museum does not host regular programs and lacks accessibility features such as ramps or elevators to access the second floor or interpretive tools for visitors with disabilities. However, we are actively seeking grant funding to support a comprehensive remodel and digitization effort that will modernize the museum and make it more accessible to all. In partnership with a Peace Corps volunteer, we are also developing audio tours in Albanian, English, and Spanish to enhance the visitor experience and make the museum’s content more inclusive and engaging for both locals and international visitors.
